GAME: FIBA U18 Europe Championships
SCOUT: Derek Murray PLAYER/#: Davide CASARIN #10 SCHOOL/TEAM: I
taly CLASS: 2003 HEIGHT: 6’5” WEIGHT: POSITION: SG
BODY/ATHLETICISM: 6’5 with average to slightly above average length. Fairly skinny right now but has the frame to put on the necessary weight. Speed is average, but quickness is plus.
SHOOTING: Excellent FT shooter, nearly 90% this tournament. Nice pull up jumper off screens, soft touch. Average finisher at the rim, since he can’t easily play above the defender. Pull up jump shots will probably be his best option. More PG than SG in this sense.
POSITION OFFENSE: Good off-ball movement, likes to move around to create space. Crafty ballhandling in iso & PnR with the ability to get to the lane. Averaged 2.3 AST per game, but this is where I think he can be most effective in the offense. Some smooth behind the back passes where he had great anticipation of what the defense would do. Great vision.
DEFENSE/REBOUNDING: Good activity and energy on defense. Consistent effort and denial of passing lanes. Can’t really hang in the paint or box out with any strength. The rebounds he gathers come from being in good positions, not physicality.
MISCELLANEOUS: Basketball IQ and passing vision are plus.
OVERALL RATING: Mid to High-Major Division 1. Looks like a really smart player. What he lacks right now in physicality, he can make up in feel. His PnR handles and passes look comfortable, and I believe this can translate to next level. Probably best suited as a distributing PG than a SG.
